Ambar Suero joined RootED as the Partner of Community Partnership and Advocacy to lead RootED’s community investment activities and maintain essential community relationships with partner organizations. This role is vital in achieving the organization’s goal of investing in community-driven change.
Ambar is a bilingual community advocacy professional with over 17 years of staff development, program management, partnership development and strategic leadership. The lack of resources she had as a young Latina and an ESL student gave her first hand experience of some of the barriers underserved students go through. She was exposed to non-profit work at eighteen years old, and it fueled her passion for community-driven change and impacted the trajectory of her career. She has used that commitment to community to help support Denver families through the Office of Family and Community Engagement (FACE) at Denver Public Schools (DPS) which included opening the Far Northeast FACE Center serving over 1,500 Montbello community members.
She is a DPS parent and understands first-hand the importance of student advocacy to ensure their individual needs are being met in DPS. Ambar attended Colorado State University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management. Her favorite quote is from Deepak Chopra, “Anything that is of value in life only multiplies when it is given.”
